Dr. Keli Furman, (PhD) Registered Psychologist
Dr. Keli Furman is a specialist in trauma and forensic psychology and has worked specifically in these areas since 1991. She has 20 years of experience working with many types of stress and trauma including Police, Military, Veterans and Emergency Services related traumas, motor vehicle accidents, work site accidents, medical traumas and personal victimizations. Dr. Furman has worked extensively with many emergency services organizations and provided treatment to their employees including the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, Department of Defence of the Canadian Forces, Veterans Affairs Canada, Edmonton Fire Department, Edmonton Emergency Services, CP Rail, Workers’ Compensation Board, the City of Edmonton and Alberta Fish and Wildlife. Dr. Furman has presented at conferences on PostTraumatic Stress Disorder, Law Enforcement and PTSD, Law Enforcement and Burn Out and Military Related PTSD. She has testified as an Expert Witness in PTSD and Forensic Psychology, both in Alberta and the State of California. She has extensive training and experience in the field of Trauma, including: Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Thought Field Therapy (TFT), Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM), Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Cognitive Therapy (CT), Solution Focused Strategies, Mindfulness and other updated trauma techniques. She provides counselling for trauma and stress and if the situation involves impact on family members, she or her associates will provide counselling for family members affected by their loved ones’ injuries.
