The Canadian Critical Incident Stress Foundation (CCISF)
is recognized charitable organization, assisting emergency personnel and communities involved in or exposed to critical incidents. With the revitalization of the CCISF, we have become one of the largest supporters of Emergency Services across Canada. For education and training see Website
As a national organization, the purpose of the CCISF is to provide a national network of teams, trainers and resources that enable and enhance crisis response. The Canadian Critical Incident Stress Foundation further recognizes the need not only to support our active duty emergency personnel but to also support and never forget the families and children of those members that have died in the Line of Duty or by Suicide.
Making The Pieces Fit

Mental Health First Aid Canada is a national program, which is based on the same principles as medical first aid. Where medical first aid teaches people skills that they need to help someone with an injury until medical help arrives, mental health first aid teaches people the skills they need to help someone developing a mental health problem or experiencing a mental health crisis until they can receive professional treatment or until the crisis is over. The program is evidence-based and is proven effective.
Suitable for anyone and no previous mental health experience is necessary. Students learn how to identify the signs and provide initial help to anyone facing mental health problems or crises. The course can benefit health care professionals, emergency service workers, human resource professionals, employers, managers and supervisors, community groups, and the public. Creating Resilient Teams: Tools for Team Leaders, Managers & Supervisors By Françoise Mathieu tendacademy.ca
“Trauma-exposed work creates a unique climate with increased risk for serious stress and burnout, resulting in sick time, low morale, lack of team cohesion and high turnover. These consequences can seriously limit a team’s ability to work effectively and efficiently. Leaders in high-stress workplaces play a unique role in managing these risks and building resilient teams. Join Francoise Mathieu at CARE4YOU and learn more about building resiliency to promote your organization’s health!” Walking the Walk: Creative Tools for Transforming Compassion Fatigue
Trainers: Françoise Mathieu, M.ED., CCC., RP
If your work involves any degree of high stress, including direct and indirect trauma exposure, you and your staff will find it far harder to stay energized, healthy and focused. Workplace demands have increased over the past decade and are expected to continue to escalate. All of these complicated factors have likely affected your team in the form of burnout, sick time, low morale and high turnover. These consequences can, in turn, seriously limit your success as a leader, and the success of your organization.
