Badge of Life Canada

Job Title: Volunteer Committee Member

Purpose: The Volunteer committee serves as an assistant for the Badge of Life Canada Events Coordinator supporting the Charity's mission of supporting police, corrections and civilian personnel (within those occupations). The Events Coordinator organizes events throughout the year that represent Badge of Life Canada to members of the public and first responders.

Location: Various within Southern Ontario

Key Responsibilities:

  • Volunteers will perform a variety of tasks depending on the project
  • Work with Badge of Life Canada volunteers to help plan and execute events, fundraising and educational conferences and workshops.
  • Event responsibilities include the following;
    • Organizing, arranging set up and take down of conference room
    • Promoting events to first responders and to the community
    • Greets guests, registers guests and directs them to facilities at events
    • Answers basic questions about the Charity
    • Picking up or preparing refreshments
    • Reminder phone calls to other volunteers who assigned to projects for the following day
    • Other duties as assigned.
  • Reports to Celyne Rook, Events Coordinator or Lynne Rusk, Administration Director

Time Commitment: One year

 Qualifications:

  • Exhibits energy and enthusiasm and an interest in working in the nonprofit sector
  • Excellent communication, and organizational skills
  • Detail oriented with the ability to work independently and with minimum supervision
  • Ability to adapt to shifting priorities and to problem-solve
  • Possess excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate in English.
  • Maintain confidentiality about information learned on the job
  • Must be able to occasionally lift and /or move up to 20 pounds.

 

Support: Training for this position will be provided. Also, the Administration Director will be available for questions and assistance.

Age Requirement: None

Dress Code: Business Casual

Assets:

    • CPR Certification, Drivers License, Smart serve.

Job Title: Fundraising Coordinator

Fundraising Coordinator

Are you a dynamic and creative fundraiser?  The fundraiser coordination would be responsible for securing new sponsors and income, executing fundraising programs and events, developing relationship and expanding BOLC’s business in Canada.  This person would report to the Executive Director and works closely with all levels of the BOLC Team.

Location: Across Canada

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute individual business plan to exceed revenue goals
  • Create fundraising opportunities through various business development techniques including prospecting, targeted follow-up and new lead generation.
  • work with the events planner and volunteer committee to execute fundraising events
  • Manage existing business while generating new leads
  • Deliver organized, structured, and persuasive presentations, using effective written and verbal communication to all levels of Government, organizations and public.
  • Manage fiscal accountability for significant income requirements. Provide accurate projections to Executive Director.
  • Perform other duties or special projects as needed.
  • Oversee and participate in the execution of major fundraising programs such as BOLC’s conferences and other service programs.
  •  responsibilities include the following;
  • Organizing, arranging phone or in person meetups with fundraising opportunities with individuals or organizations
  • Promoting events to first responders and to the community
  • Answers basic questions about the Charity

  • Maintain confidentiality about information learned on the job
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including excellent verbal skills
  • Knowledge and comfort discussing mental health topics  including depression, anxiety, post traumatic stress disorder
  • Must be able to work as an effective team member
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Flexible schedule as hours will vary each week
  • Driver’s license and access to a vehicle would be an asset

Age Requirement: None

Assets:

  •  a University Degree
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse population
  • Strong knowledge of charity
  • Outstanding report and proposal writing experience
  • Knowledge of current labour market trends, fundraising techniques 
  • Resourceful
  • Requires minimum supervision, able to work independently and
    maintains a supportive and cooperative environment with volunteer team
  • Previous work/experience with fundraising
