About Chaplain Ally

In the past 20+ years, chaplains have had to deal with varieties of attention, stigmas, and stereotypes. As a response, they’ve had to develop mature ways to carve out and articulate their Canadian identity while maintaining their faith. As chaplains in other faiths and beliefs will tell you, this is no easy feat! Luckily, there’s Chaplain Imran Ally.

Imran is an award-winning Chaplain and is a highly respected career Imam (Muslim faith leader) in Toronto, where he’s employed as the official resident Imam and Scholar at the TARIC Islamic Centre, a position which he continues to hold for more than 20+ years. In Canada, such a lengthy period of employment at one Mosque for more than two decades is a rare achievement thus includes him among a handful of elite Imams in the nation.

Imran has been impacting and touching the lives of many first responders and athletes during international sports for his entire career. Widely regarded as one of the most gifted, charismatic and inspirational faith leaders of multifaith chaplaincy in Canada, he gracefully embodies servant leadership. Imran’s work keeps him quite active, and he is lauded for presenting balanced viewpoints which often strike common grounds with other faiths and beliefs. He is often sought after to participate in multifaith services and events.

Imran has previously and continues to serve on several boards and committees for respected institutions and agencies in civic engagement and multifaith representation. In honourable recognition, he has received many accolades in various areas for his work and dedicated volunteer services.

Imran and his wife Kameeza enjoy a blissful marriage and are blessed with three sons. In 2007, he supported his wife who founded Yusuf’s Day Of Hope (YDOH), a not-for-profit annual one day fundraising family day named after their second son, who suffers from a rare genetic disorder. What started off as a humble undertaking of ‘giving back’ – YDOH has entered its 15th year and has currently raised over $250,000 for the Norman Saunders Complex Care Initiative at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto.
