Code 9 CANADA was created shortly after the news that a colleague had committed suicide and another had attempted to take his own life, within weeks of each other in late 2021. I wanted to spread Suicide awareness and prevention to my friends and co workers and other First Responders, normalizing these conversations.
I am a Correctional Peace Officer working at Canada’s largest Remand facility, in Edmonton Alberta Canada. I am also a former volunteer Fire Fighter, former Oilfield Firefighter, as well as a member of the Alberta Correctional Service Honour Guard.
This started as a way to sell quality products to First Responders and their supporters, but has evolved and will continue to evolve, as a way to help others who need the help.
Portions of the proceeds are going to a registered charity called Badge of Life Canada.
BOL Canada supports First Responders and their families with Suicide prevention and awareness and Mental Health support.
My goal is to raise funds and help anyone who needs help. And to spread the message that We are here, we will listen.
