Dr. Lisa Keith Psychological Services is a private psychology practice that is committed to improving the mental and emotional well-being of others, through the provision of high quality psychological services to adults in Hamilton and surrounding areas. Our collaborative approach to assessment and treatment assists clients to define and meet their goals for emotional and psychological health using diagnostic assessment tools, individual treatment, group therapy and education, or professional training and workshops.
She received her doctorate in Psychology from the University of Windsor in 1996. Following this, she served as a psychologist with the University of Manitoba’s Rural and Northern Program, providing a wide range of psychological services in Northern Manitoba.
In September 1999, she returned to Ontario and joined a clinic specializing in psychological assessment and treatment services for adults recovering from motor vehicle accident trauma. In April 2004, she opened her own practice in order to expand into other areas of mental health.
Her clinical expertise includes psychological assessment and treatment of First Responders suffering from posttraumatic stress and occupational injuries, as well as adults struggling with depression, anxiety, childhood trauma, terminal and chronic illness, domestic violence, and intimate relationship conflicts.
She uses a combination of Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical-Behavior Therapy, and EMDR (Eye Movement and Desensitization and Reprocessing) strategies to help people reduce the impact of their distress on daily lives. She is registered with the College of Psychologists of Ontario and an EMDRIA Certified Therapist.
Her research background has focused on cross-cultural and aboriginal aspects of mental health, sexuality and body image, and practice concerns in rural and northern Canada. She has taught university and college courses in general psychology, abnormal and clinical psychology, the psychology of women, cross-cultural mental health, and stress management.
