Dr. O’Byrne is a clinical psychologist and founder of the Ottawa Thrive Psychology and Wellness Centre. She is registered with the College of Psychologist of Ontario. She has several years experience with those struggling with anxiety, depression, relationship issues, grief, loss, PTSD and other difficulties related to traumatic experiences.
Dr. O’Byrne is passionate about working with first responders in addressing occupational stress injuries, including PTSD, depression, and anxiety. Her training in cultural competency, understanding and appreciation of the first responder populations, personal experiences with ride-along, and professional experiences conducting psychological evaluations during the constable selection process has taught her a lot about the lived experiences of first responders and about the avenues towards thriving in this line of work.
Thrive, focuses on providing a safe and compassionate environment to empower and guide adults and couples through their difficulties. Dr. O’Byrne utilizes evidenced based psychological approaches, including primarily Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy, Emotion Focused Therapy, and Prolonged Exposure.

Clinical Psychologists
Clinical Psychologists are required to complete a related Masters and Ph.D. program to practice in the province of Ontario that must be research-based and subsequently have a thesis component. They are governed by the College of Psychologists of Ontario (CPO).
Registered Psychotherapists
Registered Psychotherapists (RPs) are registered by the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) and, like Registered Social Workers and Clinical Psychologists, are permitted to perform the controlled act of psychotherapy.
Registered Social Workers
Registered Social Workers (RSW) are helping individuals to enhance their well-being. They are governed by the Ontario College of Social Workers.
