Badge of Life Canada does not provide funding, train, or supply service dogs. Our website contains important information that can assist you in obtaining a service dog. You can access the information by following this link: Service Dogs or by using the link in the menu at the top of this page.

All our people are volunteers and provide our Canadian Public Safety Personnel with the assistance we need to fulfill our Mission Statement.

You can donate by using the donation link at the bottom of each page of our website. Donations are processed on our behalf by Canada Helps who instantly provides you with a tax receipt for your donation. You have the option to give a single amount or a monthly donation.

By using the Canada Helps fundraising website, you can donate via credit card or PayPal. For other forms of donations (such as securities), please contact us to discuss it in more details. No matter how much you decide to give, your generosity is keeping Badge of Life Canada vibrant and active and we thank you.

Your donation is used to fulfill our mission statement of “Empowering Canadian Public Safety personnel and their families who are dealing with operational stress injuries including post-traumatic stress and suicidal ideation, to achieve healthy living and post-traumatic growth”. Badge of Life Canada is a registered Canadian Charity led and supported by volunteers who walk the talk and a pay it forward approach. All donations are directly used for our mission.

Please note that Badge of Life Canada does not:

  1. Use professional fundraisers
  2. Receive government grants
  3. Solicit by phone or door-to-door
  4. Sell / trade your information
  5. Spend more than 10% on administration
  6. Tie up funds in investments

Canadian Public Safety Personnel, is a term that is continually evolving, encompassing personnel acting in professional capacities who ensure the safety and security of Canadians, and shall include but not be limited to the following:

  • Police personnel, including sworn/civilian, active/retired Federal, Provincial, Municipal and First Nations policing
  • Special Constables, Sheriffs and Bylaw Enforcement personnel
  • Public Safety communication personnel
  • Corrections personnel
  • Fire Services personnel (career and volunteer)
  • EMS-Paramedic Services and nursing personnel
  • Canada Border Services personnel
  • Search and rescue personnel
  • Military personnel
  • Security personnel

Certifications

Clinical Psychologists

Clinical Psychologists are required to complete a related Masters and Ph.D. program to practice in the province of Ontario that must be research-based and subsequently have a thesis component. They are governed by the College of Psychologists of Ontario (CPO).

Registered Psychotherapists

Registered Psychotherapists (RPs) are registered by the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) and, like Registered Social Workers and Clinical Psychologists, are permitted to perform the controlled act of psychotherapy.

Registered Social Workers (RSW) are helping individuals to enhance their well-being. They are governed by the Ontario College of Social Workers.
