Leadership Wellness Training
Badge of Life Canada embraces the opportunity to network and collaborate with organizational leaders. With BOLC leaders participate through five days of experiential learning to gain a better understanding of wellness and the impact of operational stress injuries in the workplace. Throughout the week a variety of academics, licensed professionals, chaplains, facilitators, as well as equine assisted learning instructors combine to deliver some very specific training opportunities.
In-class participation includes a variety of discussion topics including Operational Stress Injuries, Moral Risks, Sanctuary Trauma, Perceived Injustice, the Value of Peer Support, Toxic Work Environments, Compassion Fatigue and Burnout. Discipline and Recruitment opportunities, as well as self-care opportunities are explored throughout the week. A variety of Healthy Workplace considerations within the Command Structure are examined that may positively impact the continuation of a change in culture within policing environments.

We all know that leadership is key to employee morale and downstream to organizational success. But as we face ongoing and emerging challenges in our jobs, we – as well as the supervisors and managers under our command, can forget the little things that are so critical to maintaining a proper connection with those we lead, by effectively communicating, inspiring, supporting, caring and building 2-way trust. We all need a reminder on occasion as to what leadership really means to the folks we are so proud to lead.
I strongly believe that leadership is leadership, regardless of whether you work in the public, private or not-for-profit sectors. It’s all about inspiring people to be the very best that they can be.
