As a national organization, the purpose of the CCISF is to provide a national network of teams, trainers and resources that enable and enhance crisis response. The Canadian Critical Incident Stress Foundation further recognizes the need not only to support our active duty emergency personnel but to also support and never forget the families and children of those members that have died in the Line of Duty or by Suicide.

Mental Health First Aid Canada is a national program, which is based on the same principles as medical first aid. Where medical first aid teaches people skills that they need to help someone with an injury until medical help arrives, mental health first aid teaches people the skills they need to help someone developing a mental health problem or experiencing a mental health crisis until they can receive professional treatment or until the crisis is over. The program is evidence-based and is proven effective.
Suitable for anyone and no previous mental health experience is necessary. Students learn how to identify the signs and provide initial help to anyone facing mental health problems or crises. The course can benefit health care professionals, emergency service workers, human resource professionals, employers, managers and supervisors, community groups, and the public.
