Michele Brett practices psychotherapy at Central Ontario Psychology in Barrie, Ontario. She mainly serves the Counties of Simcoe and Muskoka. Michele has a Master of Social Work degree (MSW), is a Registered Social Worker (RSW), and is a member of the Ontario College of Social Worker and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW). She works under the supervision of Dr. Jonathan Douglas. Michele has a specialized practice and works solely with Police Officers. She has a great passion for the unique challenges that Police Officers are faced with. Michele is able to work with officers either through WSIB or privately, depending on what the Officer needs or wants.
Michele has over 25 years of experience working with individuals and/or couples. She has worked over 15 years in family court assisting separating and divorcing couples come to an agreement as it relates to parenting their children. Michele has also worked in the domestic violence field as well as being a Parenting Assessor for the Office of the Children’s Lawyer. Michele now focuses on working with Police Officers who are experiencing operational stress injury and PTSD.

Michele is drawn to working with individuals who are experiencing anxiety, depression, and PTSD as a result of trauma they have experienced or traumas they have experienced in their life. Michele has been trained in various therapies that include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Clinical Hypnosis, Mindfulness, and Sensorimotor Therapy (SP).

Clinical Psychologists are required to complete a related Masters and Ph.D. program to practice in the province of Ontario that must be research-based and subsequently have a thesis component. They are governed by the College of Psychologists of Ontario (CPO).
