Pamela Machado, (Hons.) B.A., LL.B. Legal Counsel
Attended at the University of Waterloo, completing an Honours Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science, prior to attending Dalhousie Law School, where she obtained her Bachelor of Laws Degree; she was called to the Bar of Ontario in July 2009.
Pam completed her Articles at a law firm in Cambridge, Ontario, where she accepted an Associate’s position and specialized in the areas of Criminal law, Civil Litigation, Estate Law as well as representing several Police Associations in matters involving the Police Services Act, Criminal Investigations and the SIU.
In 2012, Pam transitioned to the position of general counsel for the York Regional Police Association, advocating for the membership before boards of arbitration, human rights tribunals and professional disciplinary bodies. Specializing in police labour law, Pam’s scope of responsibilities includes grievances, interest arbitration, human rights, collective bargaining, workers' compensation, OIPRD/SIU issues and board governance.
Several Associations in Ontario have benefited from Pam’s PSA experience, along with her ability to navigate the increasing issues with OIPRD and SIU; she is also an active member of the Criminal Lawyers Association, the Canadian Bar Association and the Ontario Bar Association and regularly participates in group discussions concerning pertinent legal issues.
Currently, Pam operates Machado Law Professional Corporation as a sole practitioner offering professional policing services to multiple Police Associations, Uniform and Civilian Members of the policing profession, as well as Police Services Board Members. Practice areas include, but are not limited to Criminal Law, Labour and Employment, Police Services Act, Human Rights Law, SIU, WSIB and Estate Litigation.
