Patricia Berendsen is a Registered Marriage and Family Therapist (RMFT), Registered Social Worker (RSW) Registered Psychotherapist (RP) and Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (SEP). Her 25 years of clinical practice has included extensive experience with the treatment of PTSD, trauma, and occupational stressors in first responders (police, fire, paramedic and detention/corrections) as well as medical personnel (doctors, nurses, surgeons).
Patricia’s expertise is uniquely focused on supporting you to be the person you want to be… for yourself and for those you care about. Trauma changes us, but it doesn’t have to be a life sentence. Foundational to Patricia’s clinical practice is her deeply held belief that every interaction is an opportunity for healing.
Patricia’s clinical practice includes: somatic psychotherapy, EMDR, CBT, Somatic Experiencing, Solution Focussed and Narrative Therapies. She is trained in EFT and PACT as a couple relationship specialist as well.
Patricia’s experience and achievements, including over 30 publications in peer-reviewed and professional journals, as well as individual chapters in three edited books in Canada and the United States, have earned her the reputation as an expert in the field. She is also an editor of Psychotherapy: Cure of the Soul published in 2014. She has presented at several national conferences and teaches and consults throughout Canada and in the United States.
