With over 30 years of varied hospital experience, working with both inpatients and outpatients, Dr. Johnston now works exclusively in his private practice. Focusing primarily on the trauma experience of Armed Forces Veterans, Correctional Officers and First Responders, Dr. Johnston employs various Best Practices techniques including Mindfulness, Cognitive Restructuring and EMDR, to assist individuals recover their sense of balance and health.

An Adjunct Professor at Lakehead University, Dr. Johnston also continues his involvement with the ongoing, higher education of graduate psychology students and as a psychotherapy supervisor.

Clinical Psychologists

Clinical Psychologists are required to complete a related Masters and Ph.D. program to practice in the province of Ontario that must be research-based and subsequently have a thesis component. They are governed by the College of Psychologists of Ontario (CPO).
