Leadership Programs

Badge of Life Canada collaborates and networks with various organizations and individuals to deliver educational programming tailored to your organizations specific request.
These educational programs are designed to increase awareness and prevention of operational stress injuries with various subject matter examined including moral risks, sanctuary trauma, perceived injustice, compassion fatigue and toxic work environments for Public Safety Personnel.
Each educational program is evidence based and facilitated by mental health professionals, chaplains, and positive lived experience individuals.

Training
Education - Training

Badge of Life Canada hosts training and conferences to advance education on topics related to primary, secondary, and tertiary prevention for Public Safety Personnel, their families, and their organizations.
These training and educational programs are constructed to deliver credible source material specific to Public Safety Personnel. The training improves specific gaps in mental health knowledge and works with your organizations existing mental health strategy.
Accredited experts in their field are involved at every level of the creation and implementation of the programming for Badge of Life Canada.

Peer Support

Through collaboration with other organizations specializing in critical incidents, Badge of Life Canada can assist after a traumatic incident occurs through Peer Support and in educating members and supervisors of next steps. We are a confidential and safe environment for support.
Badge of Life Canada offers tailored peer support with a psychoeducational component to meet the needs of your organization.

PTSD Prevention Training

Public Services Health and Safety Association is ready to help employers establish their PTSD Prevention Plans and Programs since we have extensive experience in the first responder community. As well, our team members include first responders as well as professional mental health experts. PSHSA also developed Firstrespondersfirst.ca which offers a free online toolkit designed to help employers establish a PTSD Prevention Plan and Program. The online toolkit consists of resources for the First Responder community to help employers establish a PTSD Prevention Plan and Program. The online toolkit consists of resources for the First Responder community that have been validated through established research to understand the various steps of a PTSD program. The aim for employers is to provide access to resources and simplify the process of building their PTSD prevention plan.

CISM Training

Counter Stress Solutions

CISM training is about Crisis Management and Diffusion as a result of a specific incident and ensuring supports are in place for those involved in a critical incident. Those engaging in Peer Support are encouraged to do CISM training.

ICISF approved foundation courses in Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM), tailored to your organization’s needs and setting. Training provided by Steve Horner.

PTSD & Anti-Stigma Awareness e-Learning

Public Service Health and Safety Association (PSHSA) has recognized the prevalence and the impact of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder on the workplace. This eLearning course serves as a foundation for those individuals and organizations who are looking to create awareness and a common understanding throughout their organizations.

Clinical Psychologists

Clinical Psychologists are required to complete a related Masters and Ph.D. program to practice in the province of Ontario that must be research-based and subsequently have a thesis component. They are governed by the College of Psychologists of Ontario (CPO).

Registered Psychotherapists (RPs) are registered by the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) and, like Registered Social Workers and Clinical Psychologists, are permitted to perform the controlled act of psychotherapy.
