R.N., CPMHN(C), S.A.N.E.
Sam has worked in mental health and addictions her entire career as a RN. In addition to her extensive mental health experience, she works an on-call Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner which has given her extensive experience in forensic evidence collection and court testimony. She is the second RN in the world to be recognized as Certified Prolonged Exposure Therapist, and only one of four therapists of all disciplines (including psychology and social work) in the province with this designation. She is also a Certified Cognitive Processing Therapist for PTSD, and trained in many other modalities including Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Interpersonal Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. She is a Certified Psychiatric and Mental Health Nurse, and a member of The Canadian Association of Cognitive Behavioral Therapies and the International Association of Forensic Nurses.
Sam strongly believes in the healing power of humor and tries to incorporate this into her practice whenever fitting. She is an avid motorcycle rider and lover of animals outside of her professional life.
