Dr. Laidlaw provides individual treatment (counselling and assessment) to adults 19 years of age and older who are experiencing difficulties related to their psychological and/or emotional health or well-being. Models of therapy that Dr. Laidlaw finds helpful include cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), solution-focused therapy and brief psychotherapy. Dr. Laidlaw has specialized training and experience in critical incident stress, posttraumatic stress disorder and the psychological difficulties of first responders and others in the caregiving professions. She recently worked for the Ontario Provincial Police as Manager, Psychological Services in order to provide advice and consultation to the EAP program and to restructure the psychological assessment and personnel selection process. Dr. Laidlaw currently provides pre-employment personnel selection assessments to the RCMP, the OPP and other police services and has received trainings on conducting psychological autopsies from the American Association of Suicidology.
