The Invisible Cloud: A PTSD Healing Storybook

Author: Kim Hicks

The-Invisible-Cloud

The Invisible Cloud is a gentle, emotionally supportive children’s book created to help young readers understand anxiety, trauma, and overwhelming feelings in a safe, reassuring, and age-appropriate way.

Sometimes emotions can feel big, confusing, or heavy, even when nothing appears wrong on the outside. In this compassionate story, children are introduced to the idea that worry and fear can linger quietly, like an invisible cloud that follows them from place to place.

Through calming language and relatable storytelling, The Invisible Cloud helps children recognise that strong emotional reactions are not a sign that something is “wrong” with them, but rather the brain and body’s natural response to difficult or stressful experiences. Most importantly, it reassures young readers that support, safety, and connection can help those heavy feelings soften over time.

Written especially for children aged 3–6, this book nurtures early emotional literacy by giving children the words and imagery to better understand their inner world, while empowering caregivers to begin meaningful, supportive conversations about mental health and emotional wellbeing.
