Badge of Life Canada was honoured to be part of the Joyceville Wellness Fair on September 4.

Executive Director Laura Kloosterman and Flanders
Spending time at Joyceville reinforced an important truth: wellness in corrections matters, and conversations like these are essential. The fair created space for connection, curiosity, and meaningful dialogue about mental health, operational stress injuries, and the cumulative impact of working in demanding environments.
Throughout the day, we had the opportunity to connect with staff, share how Badge of Life Canada supports public safety personnel and their families, and listen to the realities people are carrying. These conversations—grounded in respect, honesty, and lived experience—are where trust is built and stigma begins to shift.
We are grateful to Joyceville for the invitation and for their commitment to prioritizing wellness for their staff. Events like this play a critical role in reminding people that support exists, help is available, and no one has to navigate this work alone.
Thank you to everyone who stopped by, shared their stories, and took time to invest in their wellbeing.
Canadian Public Safety personnel and their families are never on this journey alone. Organizations like Badge of Life Canada are here to be a part of that journey with a pro-active approach to mental wellness. We need to continue the dialogue in order to transform the culture. We are always open to positive comments and suggestions. You can reach us on our website at BadgeofLifeCanada.org.
