I am a clinical and forensic psychologist registered with the College of Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts of Ontario. I have been licensed to provide psychological services for adults, adolescents, children, and families for the past decade. I provide services for people experiencing a number of challenges, including: anxiety and stress; depression or low mood; trauma and abuse; relationship problems; parenting concerns; grief and loss; as well as excessive substance use.
I completed my PhD at Dalhousie University (Halifax, Nova Scotia) and my Predoctoral Internship through River Valley Health (Fredericton, New Brunswick). I obtained my undergraduate degree from the University of Western Ontario (Western University) where I was also an Adjunct Assistant Professor in previous years. In addition, I am a member of both the Ontario Psychological Association and the Canadian Psychological Association.
I have had the pleasure of working with a number of wonderful people before starting my own practice, including most recently having worked as a psychologist for the members of a large police service as well as for their families. For over eight years, I have also worked as an associate in other established practices providing psychological services. Prior to this, and following graduation, I was fortunate to have obtained a position at the London Family Court Clinic providing these services for children, adolescents, adults, and families involved in the justice system.
During my internship, I provided psychological services for inpatients and outpatients in diverse settings. These settings included a regional hospital, an Operational Stress Injury Clinic for veterans and members of the Canadian Armed Forces as well as eligible members of the RCMP, and a hospital located in a rural community. During my training, I also provided services in community mental health, military, university, and forensic psychiatric hospital settings.
Through these experiences, I have developed solid skills in evidence-based approaches for helping clients with drawing on their strengths to solve problems, manage challenges, and cope with stressful life events. My treatment approach is client-centered and I often draw on cognitive-behavioural and existential perspectives. Because working with children, youth, and families often necessitates an integrative approach, other perspectives and techniques may be incorporated as well (e.g., play). I am here to provide support to you and those you care about.
