Dr. Rebecca Lewinson, PhD, C.Psych is a Clinical, Health, and Rehabilitation Psychologist with specialized expertise in trauma and the psychological impact of high-risk, high-stress professions. Her work is particularly focused on supporting first responders, including those coping with operational stress injuries, physical injury, or complex medical conditions, alongside adults and seniors facing significant health and life challenges.
She completed her PhD in Clinical Psychology and a graduate diploma in Health Psychology at York University. She currently works as a hospital-based psychologist with the Psychological Consultation Services for Inpatients (PCSI) at The Ottawa Hospital, providing care to individuals facing serious medical conditions, including acute injuries, cancer, chronic pain, brain and spinal cord injuries, and cardiac or respiratory illness.
Across hospital and community settings, Dr. Lewinson supports individuals navigating trauma, workplace stress, moral injury, burnout, depression, anxiety, sleep difficulties, and adjustment to injury or illness. Her work is grounded in evidence-based approaches, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Pain Reprocessing Therapy, mindfulness-based interventions, and compassion-focused and schema-informed approaches.
Dr. Lewinson tailors treatment to each individual, with a focus on practical, collaborative, and goal-oriented care. She is known for her practical, collaborative, and compassionate approach, helping clients build resilience and regain a sense of control in their lives.
