If you’ve found your way here, chances are you’ve been through something difficult. Are you feeling stuck, disconnected, completely exhausted? Maybe you’re carrying the weight of loneliness, helplessness, burnout, guilt or shame. Are you simply getting through the day instead of truly living it? Do you find it hard to connect with the people you care about or the things you once enjoyed? Are you experiencing challenges with managing stress, low self-esteem or sleep?

Whether you’re navigating life transitions, searching for healthier ways to cope, or living with unresolved pain and unsure how to heal—know this: you don’t have to do it alone. If you’re tired of just surviving and ready to start healing, you’re in the right place.

Welcome! I’m Nicole- a Registered Psychotherapist specializing in supporting first responders, veterans and individuals navigating trauma- including complex, childhood, lifespan, and relational trauma- as well as anxiety, depression, life transitions, occupation and moral stress injuries, self-esteem challenges, and grief and loss.

To be completely honest, becoming a therapist wasn’t part the plan. I grew up surrounded by first responders- my father and bother included- and was immersed in a culture that often emphasized being strong, pushing down my feeling and just moving forward, sound familiar? I initially worked with children and youth in various settings and to advance my career I completed a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology. I completed my school placement working with adults living with complex trauma, primarily first responders and veterans. The experience was deeply impactful- I found deep meaning and fulfillment in the work. I saw how powerful and life-changing therapy could be, so I took the leap and changed careers, and have continued as such for the past six years.

Together, we’ll work to support your healing—cultivating balance, restoring a sense of choice and connection—all within a safe, trusting, and compassionate space. My primary approach is grounded in Internal Family Systems (IFS) (Level 2), however I integrate elements of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) when appropriate to best support your needs.

Finding the right therapeutic is essential to your healing journey. Feel free to reach out to schedule a complimentary 15-minute phone consultation via email at hello@nicolekennycounselling.ca or through the contact form on my website: nicolekennycounselling.ca. I look forward to connecting and learning how I can best support you in your healing journey. Chat soon : )
